Kilchoman Sanaig (70cl, 46%)
Sanaig is the name of a small rocky inlet just north of the Kilchoman distillery. It’s very fitting to name this expression Sanaig as the inlet is an excellent place to explore and develop your love of Islay. Salty sea air, seaweed, dancing fields of barley. The fine sands and rich luscious colour of sunsets blended with the howling winds. It’s simply a stunning experiencing, nature at its finest.
The whisky is certainly one not to miss out on and once you’ve purchased a bottle you’ll wish you had purchased two. I always say this when it comes to a limited edition Kilchoman expression and this bottling delivers on all levels.
Maturing the whisky in about 25% bourbon barrels and 75% sherry barrels.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Caramel, dried raisin, vanilla with honey smoke bacon.
- Palate: Nutmeg, fruity, sea tangle, salty with a little vanilla and hints of raisin.
- Finish: OMG! The peat smoke, the sweetness and the fruity after tones just say, perfect! It is going well with steak.
